Enjoying the fall sunshine and Our youngest child is a homeowner!!

Can't beat a beautiful fall day!  It rained earlier in the week, then beautiful weather yesterday & today.  Suppose to rain again starting Sunday, but for now, I will enjoy the gorgeous blue skies!

We will be headed over the mountain to Redmond for the weekend.  Our daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) just closed on a home.  She is only 22 yrs old & with housing prices so low, it was an opportunity she couldn't pass up.  She & her boyfriend have been taking down wallpaper, priming, & painting for two days now after work.  My hubby is putting in deadbolts for his little girl to be safe and we will help with whatever there is to do, which is plenty!  Can't wait to see the house in person & talk decorating with her.  She has some really neat ideas & sharing this in person instead of over the phone will be so awesome!

I will be getting some pictures downloaded next week to share with you from my trip south and maybe some of Liz's home.  I am encouraging her to blog about her home projects & beading.  She makes beautiful lampwork beads with her torch.  We love creating jewelry when we get together.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Cindy

I got some awesome news...and help me, Please!!

I'm going to be a grandma!!  My hubby & I are thrilled beyond words.  My only question is... what do I want to be called by our grandchild?  I really don't want to be called grandma or grandmother.  So give me some ideas!!

Remembering 9/11

September 9, 2010
I will never forget being glued to the TV, watching the events unfold in a sickening succession that day 10 years ago.  I had just gotten my kids off to school & turned on the television to the news of what was happening.  I kept wondering if I should go get my kids & bring them back home with me.  Particularly as the words "terrorist attacks" kept being spoken by the newscasters.  I remember having a sick feeling in my stomach for days & feeling so sad.  The shows I have watched recently have brought me more details than I knew then, or maybe just more graphic.  It is a day that changed people, if only for awhile.  We were more patriotic, more religious, more caring, more raw with emotion.  Churches were filled to the max with people wanting comfort & answers to the tragedy.  Flags flew all over the country and other nations were shocked & saddened by the terror attacks against us.

We had a decision to make one month after the attacks.  My husband had a CT seminar he was to attend in Las Vegas.  Tickets were already bought for him & I to fly down, but we did think about driving instead.  Ultimately we flew; for me it was my very first time flying.  It was all ok, but I'll admit, I did write letters to each of our children just in case.  It was probably the safest time to travel, but it was just the memories of that day lingering...

I wonder what we have learned, what we have forgotten, and what legacy we pass on to the next generation that didn't live through that horrible day.

My favorite song right now is Laura Story's "Blessings".  I think it really is a meaningful, poignant song for our time.  You can hear it on Youtube.com.  I wanted to share the words from the song with you...

Laura Story ~ "Blessings"
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom

Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us

When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching(s) of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

I believe that only through Our Holy Father, can we ever find true peace and healing.  He is with us every day as he was that fateful day in 2001.  We will never know all the stories that died with those on that day.  I  believe that there were heroes unnamed and angels giving comfort, whether they were human or heavenly, or both.  I do know that it is a day I will never forget...

Blessings,
Cindy

Thanks to Cherished Treasures and a quick trip!

I went on a quick trip to Central Oregon last week for a few days.  I worked with my sister on her book, visited with her family, had dinner with our daughter, had lunch with our son and daughter~in~love, and thrift store shopped with my bff.  I had the pleasure of staying at her home also, which was a blessing in itself.  Thanks Melody!  I had a wonderful time and it went by so fast.

I got some things that I will be working on to sell, but I will share them as I do them.  I've got lots of spray painting to do!

I received my book from Terry at Cherished Treasures.  I had won her giveaway recently that included a a book from Country Living, "500 Kitchen Ideas" and a beautiful green handmade flower pin from POP 37 on Etsy.  The book has all kinds of full page color photos and wonderful ideas.  I will be changing some things in my kitchen as time goes along and I'm sure this will come in handy!  Thanks so much to Terry for having a giveaway.  Thanks to Darcy for the pretty green flower pin and to Terry for the kitchen book.  I love them both!  Terry has a wonderful blog that you need to check out if you haven't already!  The link is below...

I'm getting ready for another trip next week.  This time I'm going to Southern Oregon, linking up with my sister~in~love and heading to Sacramento, CA for a long weekend of enjoying (and caring for) her little grandson, plus a quick visit with her daughter (our niece) & her hubby.   I will get to see my folks in Grants Pass and my long time friend, Deanna, for a day of chatting & shopping, after we return from California.  I'd love to find a cool place to check out in Sacramento with handmade crafts and vintage items.  Any suggestions??  Have a wonderful week everyone!

Blessings,
Cindy
